Conversational Hypnosis: Just How Overt Can You Get?

The other day i was chatting with a friend of mine, and she told me about a problem that she had, something about not be able to focus and get work done.
I asked her a question that all NLPers will be all too familiar with, but which is still incredibly useful:

"If you were going to teach me how to have this problem, what exactly would i have to do?"
She then preceded to explain exactly how she went about creating the problem, and all i did was pace the good and replace the bad with more empowering choices:
Her:"well i sit down, i decide that i need to do some work, but then i just start to feel really tired..."
Me: "ok, so next time when you sit down and decide that you need to do some work, just take a deep breath, look forward to all the work being done and complete, and look back to now, just before you begin, as being the start of something surprisingly easy and rewarding, let the breath out, and go for it!"

Simple pacing, leading and future memory, text book NLP even, but within just a few sentences the problem was much weaker, so it just took a few simple metaphors and some motivational suggestions to eliminate it entirely. All in all a perfectly normal three minute conversation.

The question becomes though, in a normal conversation, just how overt can you be?
Naturally it depends on the context, if the person knows that you're a hypnotist and knows that you are helping them, then there's really no issues, however if you simply want to transform a normal conversation into an empowering hypnotic experience without conscious interference then you do need to be clever.

The thing is, typically people are extremely unobservant, we miss so much.
We are constantly being bombarded with so much sensory data it overwhelms us, and we block most of it out, so that consciously most of the time we really only see and hear pretty much what we expect to, without noticing the fact that the person we're speaking to is mirroring our body language, telling a lot of stories, dropping his tonality now and then, using a lot of ambiguous language, and the fact that as you focus more intensely you find yourself beginning to slip deeply and irresistibly into that comfortable state of trance.

What is most crucial here is not the cleverness of the words you use or the careful crafting of your stories, it's another C word:
Congruence.
When you are congruent, when your verbal and nonverbal behaviors are aligned, you can get away with almost anything.
If we pause awkwardly, look down at our feet and clear our throats uncomfortably or somehow break the flow or natural rhythm of our message, or do a too sudden and overt shift in the style and delivery of what we are saying, then people will be inclined to critically analyze what we say.

I was teaching a high school debating class the other day alongside a good friend of mine.
At the end of the class many of the students were still nervous about the upcoming debate, so in the last 3 or so minutes i started talking...hypnotically.
I did a very standard off the cuff conversational hypnosis flow to the class of students, it wasn't too subtle but it was powerful and effective, and i could see them beginning to zone out, beginning to look more relaxed and more confident, i knew they were accepting all the suggestions i was giving.
I looked back at my friend, who knows i do hypnosis, and he had his back to the class and was doubled over, laughing hysterically, as he always does when he 'catches' me doing covert hypnosis. I grinned and thought 'I hope i wasn't that overt'
I looked back to the students who were beginning to return slowly to reality, and a few of them asked my friend 'what are you laughing about?'

A few days later, after the debate, i asked one of the students how it went.
They replied that they'd won, and according to the adjudicator (basically, the judge) the main reason was because they appeared so much more confident than the opposing team... funny that

I hope you are being to get the message that conversational hypnosis or indeed all hypnosis is incredibly effective, and that it is surprising how much you can 'get away with' if you are confident, congruent, and believe in your message.

Now, when you really learn these hypnotic ideas you'll find you don't really have to think about it, it just happens. It's like as I write this now, i don't need to plan out the words, they just pop into my head.
Sometimes actually, you'll surprise yourself and do conversational hypnosis without even realizing it.
Igor Ledochowski said to me in one of our earlier conversations, a long time ago when i was just getting started, 'when you really good good at this stuff you'll walk away from a chat with a few friends thinking 'wow that was such a great conversation' and 10 minutes later you'll realize that you were doing conversational hypnosis the whole time!'
His words ring even more true today.

The other day i was reviewing one of the audios for the Advanced Hypnosis Training Program i created.
I was listening to the audio entitled 'hypnotic entertainer' and it hit me that throughout the entire audio i was using a very elegant and effective duel reality hypnotic structure, and that the entire audio is flooded with empowering hypnotic suggestions, half of which i wasn't even aware of including! It feels great when you discover things like this, because it just increases the value of what you are doing by so much, and you just know that you're unconscious is on your side, and is easily picking this stuff up, using it and learning it.

So as i always say get out there and start using what you are learning, and take every opportunity you can to learn something new, something powerful. Look for the value in what the world gives you, and apply this to your journey towards hypnotic success.
Today i am going to leave you with two choices. If, like me, you are sure that you want to become a brilliant hypnotist, then it really doesn't matter which option you chose, or whether like many you decide to go for both, however in a few weeks time once you have truly benefited from this material at a much deeper level than you now realize, you will proud of choosing now to take this step towards your own success.

The first is for those interested primarily in conversational hypnosis, and that is to go to conversational-hypnosis.com now and buy the course. I know it's over hyped and i know the sales copy makes me want to cringe as it is aimed right at the most base human drives, but the course itself is brilliant beyond words and really will give you exactly what you are searching for.

The second is for those interested in all forms of hypnosis, and who are interested in street and clinical hypnosis also.
Go to www.effectivehypnosis.com/training and sign up for the advanced hypnosis training program.
You'll learn a huge amount, pick up some incredibly powerful skills and abilities and benefit from piles of carefully crafted covert and overt hypnotic suggestions. You'll find your old hypnotic limitations slipping away as you just become a more congruent and confident hypnotist, plus when you pass the final aural exam you will attain accredited certification and will be able to call yourself a certified hypnotist.

PS
It is not my habit to end posts with a hard sell, and i strongly believe in free training and information, however now there comes a point where you need to take the plunge and really go for it and seize your hypnotic potential. The pathway to success awaits, now you simply need to chose the door.
